ECO-PARTNERSHIPS
Our island city is dependent on the environment, as we all are, for our existence and livelihood. Not only is the tourism industry here in Cedar Key eco-tourist based, but there are also the thriving fishing industries for oysters, crabs, fish and clams.
To strike some balance, we try to repay and protect this environment. We are a designated"Green Lodging" through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Park Place is a certified Wildlife Habitat through the National Wildlife Federation. In addition, we are sponsoring an osprey through the Florida Audubon Society.
We also developed and maintain the web site for the Florida's Nature Coast Conservancy. Its business is to own land in trust for preservation, conservation and/or public recreation. The FNCC also encourages and assists local governments and other land trust in the acquisition and preservation of environmentally endangered lands suitable for recreation, preservation or conservation.
